If you’re a fan of classic video games, Snakes with Fists is going to be right up your alley. The goal was to capture the magic of old-school RPGs and Beat ‘em Ups, but with a twist. Players explore a richly detailed RPG world filled with secrets, side quests, and a narrative-driven experience. Instead of traditional turn-based combat, progression transitions into fast-paced Beat ‘em Up style fighting stages. Once cleared, the world opens back up for continued exploration.
This hybrid structure creates a blend that is rarely seen in modern indie games. It combines strategic RPG exploration with action-focused combat, wrapped in pixel art visuals and supported by a nostalgic chiptune soundtrack.
Behind the scenes, Snakes with Fists is being built using the Godot game engine. Its flexibility and rapid iteration workflow make it well-suited for experimenting with hybrid gameplay systems, character design, and expressive visual moments.
“This project brings together two of my favorite genres in a way that feels fresh and exciting. A lot of the charm comes from experimenting with quirky characters and unexpected moments, many inspired by creative ideas from family life. Previous projects include a mobile game called Floaty Fluff and participation in game jams such as The Global Game Jam with The Last Plant. Snakes with Fists is the most ambitious project so far, and I’m excited to see it come together.”
